Mark your calendar, grab your friends, take a break from classes, and come join us on Thursday, May 14, 2009 at 11:30 AM as Hobbs Bonded Fibers brings you the MQS®/Hobbs Fashion Show Luncheon with Linda Thielfoldt working her magic as Mistress of Ceremonies. Linda Thielfoldt is an accomplished seamstress of her own machine quilted garments and she will guide you through the program as you enjoy a delicious lunch in OPCC Ballroom. Watch the models strut their stuff on the runway while viewing all the exciting new garments, and then cast your vote for your favorite garment. We have a totally new format this year with lots of prizes and ribbons including the new categories of Best Use of Embellishments, Best Use of Color and Best Wearable Wearable! This year’s fashion show has been expanded to include garments quilted on any machine – longarm, midarm, and domestic. PLUS, we have two classifications: Masterclass for those who have won a wearable ribbon at any National Show and Novice for those of you who have yet to capture a ribbon at the national level. This is going to be a fun filled event you won’t want to miss. Included in your MQS®/Hobbs Fashion Show Luncheon Program will be a ballot that lets you decide who will walk away with prizes. Winners of the MQS®/Hobbs Fashion Show will be announced at the Super Sampler Thursday evening so be sure to plan on attending that event as well!                $15 per person

Friday, May 15, 2009 7:00 – 9:30

We begin our evening in the pre-function area at 6:00 PM with a cash bar and a relaxing atmosphere for conversation with our new longarm machine quilting friends. At 7:00 PM we will gather in the banquet room around tables elegantly set with beautiful centerpieces provided by American & Efird. We will then dine on Fire grilled fresh tomato salad, Herb Grilled Chicken with garlic chive mashed potatoes and sautéed seasonal vegetables, and Iced "mocha" cheese cake. (A vegetarian option is available upon request – please contact volunteer@imqa.org to request this option.) Following our relaxing meal and conversations, sit back and get comfortable while we continue our evening with our special guest speaker, David Taylor. He will be presenting his program entitled, The Unexpected Journey of an Art Quilter. David was featured in the September 2008 issue of American Quilter. He is known for his meticulously detailed hand appliquéd masterpieces. David has won Best of Show twice at the International Quilt Festival in Chicago and the Machine Workmanship Award for Wall Quilts at the AQS Show in Paducah in 2008 for Sally at the Window.

The lucky Sheraton Hotel guest winner will be announced at tonight’s banquet and will win a Bernina Bernette56 sponsored by Bernina Sewing Centers of Kansas City. There will be door prizes awarded. The winner of the APQS Lenni quilting machine will be drawn at this event, donated by American Professional Quilting Systems.
